Nov. 1 – 6, 2021
It’s sad to realize that our summer trip has almost reached its conclusion but exciting to soon be home. It was time for us to leave Buckhorn Lake Resort after 3 weeks. On our drive out of the area around Fredericksburg, we passed several wineries including Augusta Vin (hard not to stop). Our route took us around Austin and Houston on our way to Beaumont, Texas where we stopped for the night at Gulf Coast RV Resort. The next morning we continued our trek along a very rough and bumpy I – 10 to Mobile, Alabama for a 3 night stay at All About Relaxing RV Resort.
All About Relaxing
We called ahead as we exited the interstate and the RV park had someone waiting to get us through the gate and settled in our pull-thru site. The site was gravel with a small concrete pad with picnic table. The landscaping was well done and the chalkboard sign with our names was a nice touch. The pool, laundry room, pavilion and porch looked very inviting. Behind the back-in sites were swings, hammocks, and a lawn chess set. The only downside to the park was that the sites were close together and the streets in the park were narrow.
After 3 relaxing days, it was time to continue on. From Mobile we drove 6 hours to Chiefland, Florida where we stopped for an overnight at Strawberry Fields for RVers. We had stopped here at the start of our trip in April and noticed that since then they had added a Pickleball court. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to test it out – maybe next time. The next day we tackled the final 4 hour drive to our home in Ft. Myers.
After 6 1/2 months on the road, we’re home!! Now we can really relax, catch up with friends and neighbors, and remember all the great times we had on this trip. There will be one more post in this series that summarizes our summer adventures and (perhaps) provides a hint of where we’re going next summer.
Home Sweet Home
