Great Expectations

With everything that has happened, the start of the winter 2019/2020 season seems like a lifetime ago. We returned to Cypress Woods from our summer travels looking forward to a fun-filled winter with our friends and neighbors. And so it was. There were dinner dances and holiday gatherings, food trucks and Monday morning meetings, special celebrations, and informal gatherings with friends. We were “complaining” about the event calendar being so full.

And then it wasn’t. Covid-19 hit and like the rest of the world, everything stopped. All events were cancelled, facilities were closed, and we watched our Canadian friends head home. Suddenly our calendars were empty and we curtailed our activities. Grocery deliveries, take-out food, curbside pickup, and walks around the neighborhood became our norm. Even our travel plans for summer 2020 began to unravel.

Original Plan

So, we decided to make our lot more comfortable by adding a gazebo, patio furniture, and an outdoor tv. These additions dramatically changed the entire feel of our lot. We now had a great outdoor area to enjoy.

We also decided to add new furry member to our family to replace the void left by losing Cody and Pepper during the summer. Originally we were going to wait until fall 2020 but decided to pull the trigger early. Meet Dawn, a 15 month old shetland sheepdog. She’s a bit shy but really sweet.

Dawn

Since we were forced to postpone our planned caravan trip to Alaska until next summer we decided to cancel our other reservations until mid-August. We spent a lot of time debating whether or not we should travel at all. Finally we decided that since we needed to get some work done on the RV and didn’t want to be in Florida during hurricane season, we should head north. So on July 16 we finally hit the road again.

  1. Crazy year for sure! Big welcome to Dawn! Congrats!!! Hopefully we’ll be meeting up again and back to “normal”!

Like it or not, tell us how you feel!
